The King from the Movie Cars

The King

Strip "The King" Weathers is a Dinoco Blue veteran, racecar voiced by Richard Petty. He is based on Richard Petty's 1970 Plymouth Superbird, and models Petty's crash in the 1988 Daytona 500.  He is one of the racecars in the 2005 Piston Cup three-way tie, next to Chick Hicks and Lightning McQueen. He is Dinoco's "Golden Boy" having won 7 Piston Cups (same number as Richard Petty). He gives advice to Lightning McQueen, reminding him that he would be nowhere without his team. McQueen, however, does not listen to him; he instead dreams of having Dinoco as a sponsor. The final race of the season results with The King was a three-way tie with Lighting McQueen and Chick Hicks.

Mrs. The King

Mrs. The King (as Mater calls her) is a 1972 Chrysler Town and Country station wagon, and is The King's wife. She is voiced by Lynda Petty, Richard Petty's real-life wife. She's identical to a car in which the Pettys drove themselves and their children to the races during the 1970s. During the races, she sits in a special VIP booth with Dinoco's sponsor Tex, cheering her husband on.
